Choosing between canvas and acrylic

Canvas is a softer, more textured option that suits calm, painterly designs above a sofa or bed. Acrylic prints are different: the image is printed on the back of a clear 3 mm acrylic panel, which gives a high-gloss, deep-coloured finish. That gloss can pick up reflections in very bright direct light, so a wall away from a window will show the print at its best.

Picking the right size

Each format comes in several sizes. Smaller acrylic prints use a hanger set, while larger ones use an aluminium backframe that holds the print a few centimetres off the wall. Art usually looks bigger on a wall than it does in a product photo, so if you are torn between two sizes, the larger one often suits a feature wall or a high-ceilinged room better.

Cushions and blankets

If you want a room to feel unified rather than built around one statement piece, the cushions and blankets repeat the same designs in soft furnishings. This is a practical way to echo a colour from a painting without committing to matching d\u00e9cor.
