Who the collection service suits

The main draw is the door-to-door service. A Fixter driver collects the car from your home, takes it to the chosen garage and brings it back once the work is finished. That is most useful if you have no easy way to get to a garage, or if a car would otherwise be off the road for a whole day waiting around. Drivers are described as fully insured, though you should check the collection terms when you book.

Checking the price before you commit

Fixter says its in-house advisers review quotes before you are asked to approve them, and that nothing is charged until the work has been approved and completed. If extra work turns up, you are told about it before it goes ahead. That means you can compare the quote against a main dealer or your usual garage. Collection and delivery fees are non-refundable, so factor those in when comparing totals.

Cancelling and warranty cover

Fixter operates a 72-hour cancellation policy, and a cancellation fee may apply within that window, because parts are often ordered in advance. Work carried out through Fixter is covered by a 12-month warranty on parts and labour. The warranty does not extend to air conditioning regas, because leaks can occur at any time.

Booking changes

If you need to change a booking, contact the team as early as possible. Fixter's team works Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, so plan any changes around those hours.
