The story
Saltrock began when two brothers from South Africa, Angus and Ross, caught a train to Cornwall to be near the surf. Short of money, they screen-printed their own surf-inspired designs on T-shirts and sold them from the back of their car. They named the brand after their favourite surf break back home. The look caught on with local surfers and the business grew from there.
Today
The brand says it still produces its surf-inspired designs in Devon, and that some of the original team are still involved. As well as its website, Saltrock has its own shops around the UK.
The range
Think relaxed everyday clothing with a coastal feel: T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, fleeces, knitwear, shirts, coats, jackets, trousers, shorts and dresses. There's swimwear, wetsuits and rash vests, changing robes and towels, plus bags, hats, socks, mugs, flasks and skate and bodyboard gear. It covers men, women and kids, and there's a pet range too.
Delivery
Standard delivery in the UK is by Royal Mail, with a free-delivery threshold and a small charge below it. Next-day delivery is available, with an afternoon cut-off, and larger items come by courier. At the moment Saltrock only ships within the UK.
Saving
The site runs sales and promotions through the year, and there are separate discounts for students, young adults and apprentices, and for keyworkers and the military. Discount codes apply to full-price items only, can't be combined with other offers and exclude accessories such as boards and wetsuits. Any live code is listed on this page.
Returns
UK returns are free, either at a Saltrock shop or by Royal Mail using a label you create online, with a QR code option if you don't have a printer. Exchanges work through the same route, and the time limit is set out in their returns policy.
