SamBoat: what to know before you buy
Choosing the right type of boat
The platform's listings span several categories, and the right choice depends on how you plan to use the water. Motor boats suit short, flexible outings and island hopping, while sailboats and catamarans suit longer multi-day trips. Canal boats and RIBs are better for shallow waterways or faster, lighter excursions. Start by deciding what you want from the day rather than browsing by price.
Deciding whether you need a captain
If you do not hold a boat licence, the site notes that you can rent with a captain, who steers the boat and takes you to suitable spots. Without a captain, some destinations require a boating licence for motor boats, and sailing rules vary by country. Check the licence requirement for your chosen location before booking, as the platform says a licence may be needed depending on the country and the boat hired.
Understanding costs and deposits
Rental rates are set by each owner, so prices vary by boat type, size and season. The platform says gas is often extra, and a deposit is set by the owner to cover damage or the insurance excess. SamBoat also offers optional cancellation and deposit insurance. Read the listing carefully so you know what is included before you pay.
Booking with confidence
Book through the site and keep communication on the platform, as its help pages warn against paying the owner directly outside it. Use the search filters for destination, boat type, dates and passenger numbers to narrow options quickly. If you own a boat, listing it is free and you can edit or remove the ad at any time.
Questions about SamBoat
Are there any SamBoat discount codes?
We don't currently list a confirmed discount code for US. That doesn't mean the store has no promotions; check its website for current prices.
Do I need a licence to rent a boat?
It depends on the boat and destination. Renting with a captain removes the need for your own licence, but motorboats rented without one usually need a boat licence in most destinations, and sailing rules vary by country.
Who sets the price for a boat rental?
The owner sets the rental rate, which varies by boat type, size and season. Gas is often charged separately, so check the listing for what is included.
Who handles my order?
You complete your purchase with the retailer. For order changes, delivery questions or a refund, contact the seller shown on your order confirmation. Vouchernaut publishes shopping guides and offers; we don't process your purchase.
