Smugglers Crate: what to know before you buy
The story
Smugglers Crate was founded by a team of self-confessed Star Wars fanatics who wanted to share their passion with like-minded fans. Unlike many sci-fi boxes that mix fandoms, it says its crates are curated specifically for Star Wars fans.
The crates
The Star Wars range starts with the Jedi Knight crate and steps up through Jedi Master, Collector’s Edition and the Ultra Crate. Larger crates hold more items and more premium pieces, and each includes at least one figure. The site says it sources officially licensed items from partners and retailers, with new pieces from shows like Andor and The Mandalorian alongside retro finds from the original and prequel eras.
Beyond Star Wars
There are also boxes for anime and manga, Harry Potter, Marvel and Pokemon fans, and a range of lightsabers. Gift boxes, including corporate ones, are listed separately, which makes it easy to buy for a fan who already has the basics. Whichever you pick, the contents stay a surprise until the box is open.
Delivery
The first box ships within a few working days of ordering, and later subscription boxes go out in the middle of each month. UK orders travel by Royal Mail and international ones by DPD. Boxes shipped abroad can attract duty or taxes, which the recipient pays.
Saving
The site says each crate is priced below the retail value of what’s inside. Any live code is listed on this page: copy it and enter it at their checkout. Subscriptions can be cancelled anytime, but cancel before a renewal date, as their terms charge a fee for cancelling afterwards.
Returns
Refunds are considered for boxes that arrive damaged or with items missing, if everything is unopened and in its original packaging. You need to tell them in writing soon after delivery, and boxes that simply aren’t to your taste aren’t refunded.
