Persona 4 Revival lands on Steam, Windows, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 on 18 February 2027, with Game Pass access on day one. That makes the edition question fairly sharp: what would a pricier version need to add before you would pay extra for a game you can already play at launch?
What is Persona 4 Revival?
Persona 4 Revival is a full remake of Persona 4, Atlus's RPG about a murder mystery in the small town of Inaba. You split your time between turn-based battles in dungeons and everyday life in town, run by the calendar, and the remake rebuilds the town, the cast and the combat for current machines.
Why is Persona 4 Revival a big deal?
Because it's a full remake rather than another port of Persona 4 Golden, and it's on Game Pass from launch day as well as on Steam and PlayStation 5. In the UK, "persona 4 revival" is searched about 5,400 times a month, already more than the 4,400 for "persona 4" itself (Google Keyword Planner, October 2026).
Why should you care before preordering?
Because the edition is the only real money decision, and it's a muddle right now. Sega's release announcement confirms the date, the platforms and how the editions are split in Japan, but UK names, prices and retailer bonuses come from the UK product page. Converting the yen and hoping gets you nowhere.

What's actually in the trailer?
The preorder trailer takes us straight back to Inaba, the Midnight Channel and the investigation team. You get remade environments, the cast, and a much flashier take on combat. What it can't tell you is how long the game is, how it runs, or how much of it is genuinely new writing.
It's worth watching side by side with Persona 4 Golden to see how far the look has moved. It's no promise that every social link, dungeon layout or line of dialogue has survived untouched, though. A trailer is two minutes of the bits they're proudest of.
Hang on, isn't this just Persona 4 Golden again?
No. It's a full remake of Persona 4's story and setting, not a resolution bump for the Steam version you might already own. Golden is still the cheap way to play the complete older game before February, if you fancy it.
One warning: Golden isn't worth buying for a save that carries over, because nobody has announced anything like that. It's worth buying if you want the original structure, you prefer how it looks, or you can actually finish it without it turning into homework before the new one arrives.
Which edition would I buy?
Standard. It's got the game in it, and the game is the only part of any of these bundles we can really judge.
The Digital Deluxe and Premium packages throw in different mixes of costumes, music and other digital extras. Japanese pricing proves several versions exist, but what's in each one can differ by region. A costume that nods to another Persona game is only worth its slice of the price if you'd happily have bought it on its own.

The standard UK price.
The difference between that and the edition you're eyeing up.
Less anything for the soundtrack or art book if it's locked inside an app or not downloadable in a format you'll actually use.
Nothing for consumable items, unless they genuinely change how you'll play.
An upgrade only if what's left is worth that difference in cash on its own.
Nine times out of ten, that sum talks me out of it.

If you'll play it once, you're already subscribed, or you want other February games from the same catalogue, it's the obvious route.

It suits you if you want it in your library for good, you play mostly on a Steam handheld, or you know you'll come back to it in a few years. The maths that matters is how many months you'd keep a subscription running just for this. Persona games are long, and a cheap first month doesn't mean a cheap finish.
According to Sega's announcement, the Windows and Xbox versions support Xbox Play Anywhere. A Steam licence is a separate thing. If you're thinking of switching storefront halfway through, check how cross-save works first, before you're 60 hours deep.
Do I need to have played the other Persona games?
Nope. Persona 4 has its own town, its own cast and its own murder mystery. Nods to the rest of the series aren't the main event.
Persona 4 Golden is the direct comparison. Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Royal will show you how Atlus does modern battles and social systems, but nobody should be telling you to finish three enormous RPGs as prep. That's not a hobby, that's a sentence.
What don't we know about the PC version yet?
Quite a lot. The store requirements, the Steam Deck rating and the final PC settings all still need checking closer to launch. And a turn-based game won't necessarily run on a potato: town scenes, effects, video playback and anti-tamper software can all be heavier than you'd expect.
I'd hold off until there's clear information on ultrawide support, frame-rate caps, graphics options, button prompts and how saves behave across the Windows and Xbox versions.
What's the real UK price?
Not the Japanese price run through a currency converter, that's for sure. VAT, edition names and what's included can all differ here. The official GBP price for the standard edition comes first, then the final checkout total for the same activation platform at each authorised retailer.
If you're the spreadsheet type (no judgement, I am too), you only need five columns: retailer, activation platform, edition, checkout price and when you checked. Early-access timing only earns a column if the product page gives an exact unlock time. "Three days early" means much less than an actual timestamp when global and regional launches don't line up.
And if a shop is knocking more off a premium edition, the number that matters is its cash total against the standard edition, not the percentage badge. 15% off extras you don't want is still spending more money.
Is early access worth it for a Persona game?
Only if you've genuinely got those days free, and only if you don't mind playing before the full reviews are in. It won't make a long campaign any shorter, and it might put your first few hours ahead of any proper PC performance analysis.
The details to confirm are whether early access covers every platform, whether your save carries into the full release and whether the retailer guarantees you'll get your code before the early unlock. And if your mates are dodging spoilers, starting three days before them has a social cost no costume bundle mentions.
For most people, the edition and platform you pick matter for years. Early access matters for days.
