Appliances Direct: shoppers' questions

Questions about Appliances Direct, answered by us and by readers who've shopped there.

  1. Does Appliances Direct do a student discount?

    Our answer

Yes. Appliances Direct offers a student discount through Student Beans: verify your student status with Student Beans to get it. Student Beans says anyone over 16 in full-time education, including university, college, sixth form and high school, can use it, as can apprentices. Graduates can get a discount through Grad Beans for up to five years after graduating. Appliances Direct's own page adds that key workers can verify with Beans iD.

  2. How much is Appliances Direct delivery?

    Our answer

Appliances Direct prices delivery by the size and weight of the order and shows the fee at checkout once you enter your postcode. Products marked FREE Delivery go free to most of England, Wales and Scotland, but delivery is charged to Northern Ireland, the islands and some Scottish postcodes, such as AB, IV and PA. Next-day delivery covers thousands of in-stock items to mainland UK, outside excluded postcodes and bank holidays, subject to cut-off times. You can also pick a delivery day, Monday to Saturday, or collect from its points in West Yorkshire or the East Midlands.

  3. What is Appliances Direct's returns policy?

    Our answer

Appliances Direct gives 30 days from the day after delivery to return an order. Start a return request in its online returns portal, and it replies within 48 hours to authorise it. The shopper then arranges and pays for an insured courier to send the item back. Used or installed items get only a partial refund, and headphones, personalised goods, and software, CDs or DVDs with a broken seal can't be returned for a change of mind. A damaged delivery can be refused at the door, and it collects faulty products. Refunds are issued within three working days.

  4. Is Appliances Direct legit?

    Our answer

Appliances Direct is run by Buy It Direct Ltd, a private limited company registered in England (number 04171412) with its registered office in Huddersfield; Companies House lists it as active. It ships from its own warehouses in Huddersfield and the East Midlands. Its terms list Visa, Mastercard, Amazon Pay, and finance through V12 and PayPal as ways to pay. Change-of-mind returns are requested through its online returns portal within 30 days from the day after delivery, and the shopper arranges and pays for an insured courier to send the item back.
