National Express: shoppers' questions
Questions about National Express, answered by us and by readers who've shopped there.
What is National Express's refund policy?
Our answerRefunds depend on the fare. A Fully Flexible fare can be cancelled for a full refund at least 24 hours before the original outward journey, and changed at no extra cost. A Standard fare can't be refunded or cancelled, but can be changed for a fee from £5 plus any excess fare. A Restricted fare can't be refunded or changed. Booking fees and some extras aren't refundable, and you need a registered My Account to manage a booking. If National Express cancels a service you've reserved before it starts, it either arranges other transport or refunds the fare.

Does National Express have an app?
Our answerYes. The National Express Coach app is free on the App Store for iPhone and on Google Play for Android, published by National Express. You can search and book coach journeys to UK towns, cities and airports, keep tickets in My Bookings to use offline or add them to your phone's wallet, re-book recent journeys and use the Coach Tracker to see timetables and follow your coach in real time.

Does National Express do a student discount?
Our answerYes. Students get 20% off coach travel Monday to Thursday and 10% off Friday to Sunday, on full-price Standard and Fully Flexible fares booked online. Verify with UNiDAYS, Student Beans or TOTUM through National Express's students page. It doesn't apply to Restricted or other promotional fares, events or booking fees, covers up to 4 passengers per booking and can't be combined with a Coachcard. Full-time students can instead buy a Young Persons Coachcard for £30 a year, which gives 1/3 off Standard and Fully Flexible fares.
