If you're a PC player, you already know how this goes. Console mates are counting down to launch, the group chat is full of trailer screenshots, and you're refreshing Rockstar's website like it owes you money. So let's get the painful bit over with: there's no confirmed GTA VI PC release date. Rockstar's official page lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for 19 November 2026. It doesn't list Windows, Steam, Epic Games Store or the Rockstar Games Launcher. Any specific PC date you've seen floating about is a guess.
That stays true until Rockstar's GTA VI page, a Take-Two announcement or an official PC store listing adds PC to the platform list. An executive saying PC is important is not the same as announcing a PC version, however much we'd all like it to be.
What has Rockstar actually announced?
GTA VI on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, 19 November 2026. Console preorders are open, and Rockstar has put out trailers, screenshots and an extended look at Leonida, Vice City and the main characters.
Even the official extended-look video only names the two console families in its description. I checked. Of course I checked.
This page is about the PC version that doesn't exist yet. I'm not going to use console footage to make up PC graphics settings, performance numbers or a porting timeline.
Why does everyone assume it's coming to PC?
Because GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 both got there eventually, and Take-Two executives keep calling PC an important platform. So a PC version at some point makes obvious commercial sense.
But "makes sense" isn't "confirmed". You can't turn old gaps into a formula, because every game has different production, platform deals and technical work behind it. Taking the GTA V delay and adding it to November 2026 gives you a sum, not evidence.
Is February 2027 a real PC date?
Not according to any official source. If a date is pinned on an unnamed retailer, an ex-employee or a database placeholder, treat it as rumour until Rockstar says the same thing.
Retailers often need to put *some* date on a product just to create it in their system. "31 December", end-of-quarter dates and oddly specific placeholders can hang around long enough to end up in search results. None of them is something I'd preorder against.
Can you preorder GTA VI on PC?
Not from any official PC product page, because there isn't one. Do not buy a key, an account, a "reservation" or an "early access" deal that claims to get you a PC copy while Rockstar has no PC listing. That's how people lose money.
When Rockstar announces a PC edition, I'd compare Green Man GamingGreen Man GamingA UK-based authorised retailer selling publisher-supplied PC and Xbox keys across several activation platforms.Buying guide · View store →,
FanaticalFanaticalA Staffordshire-based authorised digital retailer known for publisher-supplied game keys, bundles and build-your-own collections.Buying guide · View store → and
GamesplanetGamesplanetAn authorised PC game retailer with a dedicated UK storefront and keys supplied under publisher agreements.Buying guide · View store → on the exact listing. I'd check the launcher, region, key delivery and refund terms before paying. Right now there's no confirmed Steam, Epic or Rockstar Launcher product to activate. Marketplace buyer protection can't turn a product that doesn't exist into a game licence.
Should a PC player just buy a console?
Only if you'd want the console anyway. Add up the hardware, the online subscription, whatever screen and accessories you need, and then ask whether the console's wider library makes that total worth it.
If you're buying purely to avoid the wait, you're setting yourself up for a second purchase if a PC version turns up later. That can still be a perfectly reasonable thing to do if you really want to be part of the launch-week chat. Just don't kid yourself that it's saving money because the PC date is unknown. If launch week still wins, our GTA 6 before-launch guide compares the console editions and UK buying options.
What will the PC requirements be?
There aren't any, because there's no PC version. Those YouTube videos confidently telling you the minimum GPU and storage size are guesses.
Don't upgrade your PC for GTA VI yet. A console trailer can't tell you anything about desktop CPU load, how much graphics memory it needs, upscaling options, how it handles storage or what frame-rate it's targeting. Hang on to the upgrade money until there's a real spec sheet and independent PC testing.
What would actually prove a PC version is coming?
The gold standard is a Rockstar product page or newsroom post naming PC, then a verified store page run by Rockstar or an announced PC platform. A Take-Two investor release can confirm timing, but a general comment about the PC market can't give you a product date.
When a new rumour pops up, this is the order I'd trust it in:
- Rockstar product, support or newsroom page.
- Take-Two regulatory filing, results material or direct executive statement naming GTA VI on PC.
- Verified Steam, Epic or Rockstar Games Launcher listing linked from an official channel.
- Named interview reported in full context by a reputable publication.
- Retail database, anonymous leak, social post or unsourced screenshot.
Only the first three would change what this page says. Four and five might be worth keeping an eye on, but they don't give you a game you can preorder.
Will my progress move from console to PC?
Nothing's been announced. No save transfer, no character migration, no cross-progression for GTA VI. Using a Rockstar account on older games doesn't prove a new story save or a future online character will move between platforms.
That matters if you're thinking "console copy now, PC copy later". Until Rockstar publishes a migration policy, treat them as two separate purchases with two separate lots of progress. If an online mode does arrive, check whether a one-off transfer locks your original character, whether your in-game money comes with you, and whether different console generations can play together.
When should I actually start planning an upgrade?
Once four things exist: an official PC announcement, a requirements table with performance targets, testing of the release build, and whatever hardware prices look like at that point. Requirements published months before launch can still change, and a minimum spec doesn't describe the experience you actually want.
When they arrive, start from the resolution and frame-rate you want. Check CPU performance in busy city scenes, graphics-memory use, storage streaming, shader compilation and whether ray tracing is optional. Buying the fastest single part on its own can leave the real bottleneck exactly where it was.
Until then, the best prep costs nothing. Keep your storage in decent shape, don't upgrade anything specifically for a port nobody's announced, and save the money.
What would a real PC release look like?
It's real when Rockstar or Take-Two names PC and gives a date or a release window. At that point, here's what I'd check before planning to buy:
- which PC stores it's on;
- release date or window;
- official requirements;
- preorder editions and bonuses;
- authorised UK retailers;
- how saves or accounts link to the console version.
Until all that exists, don't buy anything claiming to be a PC version.
