AliExpress: shoppers' questions

Questions about AliExpress, answered by us and by readers who've shopped there.

  1. How does AliExpress delivery work?

    Our answer

It depends on the seller. Each order is with a third-party seller, and AliExpress's terms say the shipping terms are based on what the seller states on the product page. The order detail page shows a guaranteed delivery window, and Buyer Protection refunds an item that doesn't arrive or is lost in transit within that window. The AliExpress app's App Store listing describes real-time order tracking.

  2. Does AliExpress have an app?

    Our answer

Yes. The AliExpress Shopping App is free on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, from Alibaba, and AliExpress - Shopping App is on Google Play for Android, from Alibaba Mobile. The App Store listing says it offers personalised recommendations, buyer reviews and real-time order tracking.

  3. What is AliExpress's returns policy?

    Our answer

Returns start from the order: contact the seller first, then choose Return/refund on the order detail page in My orders. AliExpress's Buyer Protection page describes a Free Return service within 15 days of receipt, using a return label, with a refund once the item passes checks at the warehouse. The same page says a buyer returning for a change of mind pays the return postage. Refunds go to the original payment method or, if you prefer, an AliExpress refund bonus. Its terms for UK shoppers keep the statutory right to withdraw within 14 days.

  4. Is AliExpress legit?

    Our answer

AliExpress is run, for UK shoppers, by Alibaba.com Singapore E-Commerce Private Limited, incorporated in Singapore (company registration 200720572D), according to its terms for EU, EEA and UK consumers. It is a marketplace: each order is a contract between the shopper and a third-party seller, not AliExpress. Payments are handled through Alipay or AliExpress's own payment service. Its Buyer Protection offers a refund when an item doesn't arrive within the guaranteed delivery window, or arrives damaged or not as described and is reported within 15 days of receipt. The terms say statutory rights, including 14 days to withdraw, still apply.
