Choosing between membership and personal training
A membership gives you access to the club, its classes and equipment. Personal training is a separate purchase, booked one-to-one with a trainer. If you are already comfortable in a gym, a membership alone may be enough. If you are new to training, returning after a break, or working towards a specific event, a PT can shape a plan around your goal.
Picking a trainer by specialism
The PT profiles in the app list specialisms, so filter for what you need rather than picking at random. HYROX preparation is a distinct focus at some London clubs. Personality matters too, so a short face-to-face conversation at your local club is a sensible step before committing to several sessions.
Deciding whether able suits you
able is aimed at people who want their training guided by data. Its machines adjust to set-up and tempo, and it produces a BioAge score drawn from strength, flexibility, cardio and metabolic testing. Members get three complimentary one-to-one sessions to run the initial assessment. It is most useful if you want to track progress numerically and are happy to rely on the app.
Booking a tour first
A club tour can be booked with no commitment and lets you see the facilities and speak to staff before you pay anything. Use it to check whether the club and its timetable suit your week, and ask about trainer availability at that location.
