What does the Hearing Dogs shop sell?
The shop's gifts are built around the charity's dogs, many featuring the breeds it trains: Labradors, Cocker Spaniels, Cockapoos and Poodles. The range covers greeting cards and Christmas cards, calendars and stationery, mugs, tea towels, aprons and other homeware, socks, hoodies and T-shirts, tote bags, soft toys, jigsaws and keyrings. Pet products include collars, leads, lick mats, toys and poo bags, and there are afternoon tea vouchers for the charity's restaurant at The Grange in the Chilterns. Small pieces such as keyrings, notepads and socks are the kind of thing our stocking fillers guide looks at, and our gifts and occasions shops list more.
What hearing loss products does it sell?
A separate range covers everyday products for people who are deaf or have hearing loss. It includes communication cards, lanyards, pin badges and wristbands that tell others about hearing or lipreading needs, hospital and medical alert cards, clear face coverings, hearing aid batteries and care products, earplugs, and technology such as amplified phones, personal listeners and TV listening devices. Many of these products come from the charity's Hearing Link Services, which offers support and information to people with hearing loss.
How does buying from the shop support the charity?
The shop is run by Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, a registered charity in England and Wales and in Scotland, founded in 1982, which trains hearing dogs to respond to key sounds and give emotional support to deaf adults and children. The shop says "every purchase helps support deaf people", and the charity's about page says shop purchases help provide connection, confidence and companionship for people with hearing loss. Its charity gift cards work differently from the rest of the range: each is a gift whose value goes towards training the charity's puppies, such as equipment for puppy classes, with a card explaining how it helps. The Oxfam Online Shop is another charity's own shop, selling donated clothing and accessories.
How do delivery and returns work?
The shop delivers to UK and BFPO addresses only. Orders placed before the afternoon cut-off on a working day are dispatched the same day, and delivery charges are shown at checkout. Unwanted items can be returned in good condition within 14 days for a refund of the purchase price or a replacement. Returns, and faulty or wrong items, are arranged with the shop team by email or phone first, and go back to an address in Stamford, Lincolnshire, given on its returns page, rather than to the charity's head office. Postage on a return is the customer's responsibility until it arrives, and the shop suggests an insured service.
