What I'd check first

If you're buying a phone outright, the maker's own shop is the place I'd check first. Google, Nothing and Fairphone all sell direct in the UK, and that's usually where launch bundles, trade-in credit and the most straightforward warranty claims live.

The number that matters most isn't the discount but the software support: how many years of Android and security updates the model gets. A cheaper phone that stops receiving updates in three years can cost more per year than one that's supported for seven. Fairphone goes further with replaceable parts, which is worth weighing if you keep phones for a long time.

Also check the storage option and colour at checkout. Offers sometimes apply to only one configuration.
